From 2023 to 2030, many parts of the B10 axis will be given a new look. To the east of the Blaubeurer Tor, an approximately 200 m long tunnel will be built, which will replace the bridge over the Blaubeurer Tor. The ring traffic will be abolished and two intersections signaled by traffic lights will be created. The dilapidated Wallstrasse bridge will be replaced by a new, shorter and narrower bridge over the Deutsche Bahn tracks. The team that will take over the general planning for the reconstruction work has now been decided: It is an INgenieurGEmeinschaft (INGE) consisting of the Konstruktionsgruppe Bauen AG/Kempten and BuP - Boll Beraten und Planen Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG/Stuttgart and the Konstruktionsgruppe Bauen Augsburg GmbH/Neusäß. Today (Monday, May 8, 2023), the Mayor of Construction Tim von Winning and - on behalf of INGE - Martin Seiter from the Konstruktionsgruppe Bauen signed the general planning contract. As a first step, INGE will be commissioned to prepare a functional service description on the basis of which a suitable construction partner will be sought. This partner should be found by mid-2024. For the first time in Baden-Württemberg, an infrastructure project of this size is to be implemented in a partnership process. This means that the planners and the construction company will work together to develop the plans for the traffic systems, tunnel technology, tunnel construction, bridge demolition and replacement construction of the Wallstrasse bridge up to the implementation level. This saves time and money and guarantees that the construction company's know-how can be brought in at an early stage. As already reported, this major construction project is also special in terms of funding. For the first time, the state is supporting a municipality for a construction project with a sum of almost 105 million euros. The city is expecting a sum of almost 200 million euros for the reconstruction work around the Blaubeurer Tor. Expected construction schedule: Construction work will begin in autumn 2023, when the tunnel's drainage systems are installed and the pipes are laid in the construction area. In 2025, the ring road will be rebuilt and tunnel construction will begin. At the beginning of 2026, the western half of the Wallstrasse bridge will be demolished and then rebuilt. This will be followed in 2027 by the demolition of the eastern half of the bridge and its replacement. In 2028, the tunnel will be finished and the bridge over the Blaubeurer Tor will disappear. In 2029, everyone involved hopes, the new Wallstrasse bridge will go into operation. The new website www.erneuerung-B10.de is now active, the previous website www.b10-sanierung.de will be redirected to the new site. Current topics, videos and background information about the renovation of the B10 can be found here. The tried and tested traffic cameras will remain, providing a good overview of the current traffic situation along the B10.
