The album's repertoire covers the entire period of the Beatles' artistic production, from great hits that have long been part of the collective imagination, to songs less known to the general public, in original arrangements, signed by the young violinist Mateus Freire. Highlights include Day Tripper, In My Life, Penny Lane, Because, Something and With a Little Help From My Friends, the latter featuring the Beatles' version, alongside that of the famous arrangement by Leon Russel, immortalized by Joe Cocker, at Woodstock. The music emphasizes the original melodic line of the songs, with violins, violas, cellos and bass replacing the sung words. According to maestro Rodrigo Toffolo, artistic director and principal conductor of the Ouro Preto Orchestra, the objective of the choice is to remain faithful to the pieces, “revealing the melodic complexity of the group’s songs and, at the same time, reaffirming the timeless nature of the work of the Liverpool quartet”, he explains. Orquestra Ouro Preto – The Beatles is part of the musical experimentalism promoted by the Ouro Preto Orchestra. A success with audiences and critics, the project has achieved approximately one hundred performances in several states of Brazil, in addition to participating in the International Beatle Week, in Liverpool, in three acclaimed concerts, becoming the first orchestra in the world to participate in the traditional event aimed at Beatle fans from all over the world.
