Hidden behind high walls and protected by a small forest reserve, stands a modernist building with a sober style and exposed bricks. Upon entering the place, one has the impression of traveling back in time, to another era, due to the deep silence, broken at certain times by bells and chants in Latin or by sounds of nature. This is the Nossa Senhora das Graças Monastery, located at the top of the Vila Paris neighborhood, in the South-Central Region of Belo Horizonte. The temple, which belongs to the female branch of the Order of Saint Benedict (OSB), houses 47 cloistered nuns. The monastery-abbey turns 70 this November 12.
