Bobomurod Khamdamov was born on March 3, 1940 in the city of Chorjoi. He loved the work of the famous artist Komiljon Ataniyozov and memorized all the songs performed by Komiljon Ataniyozov. One day, People's Artist of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Karakalpakstan Komiljon Ataniyozov came to Chorjoi with a concert tour. Then young Bobomurod Khamdamov met with teacher Komiljon before the concert, told him that he was his absentee student, and performed several of the songs he had learned and known. In turn, Komiljon Ataniyozov said that he wanted to create a song and dance ensemble in Chorjoi in six months, and ordered him to gather talented young musicians, singers, and dancers. Bobomurod Khamdamov gladly performs this service. They gather many young performers around them and prepare intensively for the opening of the ensemble. Kamiljon Ataniyozov comes here to mentor talented young people and give long-awaited ensemble concerts. Bobomurod Khamdamov is a soloist in this ensemble, and Komiljon Ataniyozov leads the ensemble when he is away on business trips. The ensemble's performance program consists mainly of Uzbek classical and folk songs, as well as works in Turkmen, Karakalpak and Russian. In fact, the popularity of this ensemble has reached not only Turkmenistan, but also Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan. His concerts in neighboring countries have been in a spirit of enthusiasm. As for Bobomurod Khamdamov's performance style, he is an Uzbek singer. His voice is very wide, from the middle register to the highest pitch, it is high and resonant. The timbre of his voice is delicate and beautiful lyrical tenor. All genres of works performed by him were equally beloved by the people. Bobomurod Khamdamov performed everything in his own style, whether it was maqam, suvori, folk songs, works by composers or works composed by himself. While his early performances were close to the style, in his later performances it was clear that his own style of performance had emerged. The softness of his style, the accuracy of the accent, the ability to make each letter sound in its own beauty indicate his mastery. The National Encyclopedia of Uzbekistan says the following about him: “Bobomurod Khamdamov was an Honored Artist of Turkmenistan in 1979. In 1983, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Uzbekistan. In 1985, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Turkmenistan. He began singing as a singer at the Chorjoy Regional Philharmonic. He learned the ways of singing from Kamiljon Ataniyozov. Later, he worked in various positions in the philharmonic societies of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. He was on pension since 1994. The 1960s-2000s of the last century were the most prosperous period of Bobomurod Khamdamov's creativity. Indeed, he occupied the field of music since the 1960s and over the years he gradually penetrated deeper into this field. During the heyday of his performing career, his program included folk classics "Feruz-I-II", "Savti Feruz", "Khorezm Segoh", "Chapandoz suvora", "Kajhang suvora", Khorezm and Turkmen folk epic songs, "Naylar", "Bolmas", "Bogbonim bol" from the epic "Oshik Gharib va Shohsanam", "Bog saylina ketalik" from the epic "Tahir va Zuhra", "Bog saylina ketalik", "Sendan ayrilib", "San-san", "Sayoding", "Yorim oldi", "Kurban bolayin" from the epic "San yor getkali", many other works of his own composition, as well as Indian, Afghan, Tajik, Turkmen, Azerbaijani songs. Bobomurod Hamdamov has been on a creative journey in all the countries of Central Asia, India, Pakistan, Nepal, and all the states of the United States. Bobomurod Hamdamov is also known as a sazan, that is, a string player, and as a composer of more than 200 songs and hymns that he himself sings. Bobomurod Hamdamov's passion, courage, and enthusiasm in singing, the performer's deep knowledge of the content of the work, especially the traditions of the Uzbek and Turkmen schools of Bakhshi, were important factors in making such songs unforgettable and deeply felt in the hearts of listeners. Bobomurod Hamdamov is one of the singers who created a unique school in the field of our national singing. Today, September 2, 2024, the master artist passed away.
