A number of ministers were seen attending the National Christmas celebration, including the Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Otto Hasibuan, and the President's younger brother Hashim Djojohadikusumo. The Christmas event was led by a prayer by the Secretary General of the Indonesian Bishops' Conference (KWI) Bishop Paskalis Bruno Syukur.
