The rapid evolution of AI brings significant risks, requiring new institutions and safeguards for its governance. Algorithms, increasingly present, shape human interactions, influence behaviors, and define access, such as news, entertainment, social benefits, and even life-and-death decisions, such as organ transplants or judicial sentences. Algorithms define the news, music, and movies that will be offered to us, or the content that reaches us through the timeline of various platforms. In this lecture, I propose to reflect on algorithms as institutions that operate deeply in human relationships, shaping choices and actions. Although they do not fully determine human actions, algorithms impact the way we create meanings, distribute resources, and understand the world. _____________________________ Speaker: Prof. Dr. Virgílio Augusto Fernandes Almeida Read more: https://folha.com/o7dykztb
