NICO stands for "Neuralgia inducing cavitational osteonecrosis". This refers to chronically inflamed areas in the jawbone (silent inflammation in the jawbone). These osteolyses in the jaw represent a typical interference field, and therefore belong to the category of neuromodulatory carriers. Biological dentistry places particular emphasis on the removal of interference fields, and chronic inflammation is one of the main interference fields in our body. Chronic inflammation in the jawbone often occurs unnoticed by conventional X-rays, usually resulting from old, not optimally healed tooth extraction wounds, tooth buds or foreign bodies. Similar to root-treated teeth, toxins and inflammatory mediators (TNF-α, IL-1, RANTES) form here, which can cause a variety of symptoms elsewhere in the body - neurological (NICO) or joint problems are particularly common. At the Center for Biological Dentistry, these can be diagnosed using a three-dimensional, digital volume tomography (DVT). NICOs mainly occur after wisdom teeth have been removed, but can occur in any toothless area. The cause is an incorrect diet with a lot of sugar, wheat and cow's milk products, as well as a vitamin and nutrient deficiency: vitamin D3 (lack of sun), zinc, magnesium and omega 3 fatty acids. The body is often overwhelmed by this deficiency in terms of healing processes - it is in "hibernation", so to speak. It is unable to build new tissue because the nutrients for it are simply missing. NICO is therefore a symptom of an existing nutrient deficiency. Our BHP has proven to be effective in supporting perioperative bone regeneration; we use it before all surgical procedures to support the body’s own regeneration. It is crucial to take the nutrients according to the protocol at least 14 days before the planned operation. NICO stands for “Neuralgia inducing cavitational osteonecrosis”. NICOs mainly develop after removal of wisdom teeth but can occur in every edentulous area. The cause of this is poor nutrition with a lot of sugar, wheat and cow's milk products as well as a vitamin and nutrient deficiency: Vitamin D3 (lack of sun), zinc, magnesium and omega-3 fatty acids. This deficiency frequently causes the body to become overwhelmed with healing processes – it is almost in a state of “hibernation”. It is not able to build new tissue as the nutrients to do so are simply not there. NICO is therefore a symptom of a nutrient deficiency. Our bone healing protocol has been proven to support perioperative bone regeneration. We use this before all surgical procedures to help the body's regeneration process. At least 14 days before the operation, it is crucial to consume the nutrients according to the protocol.
