Tour from June 13th to 14th, 2022 Before the Hintergrathütte was opened for the season, we ventured to the ridge of the same name on the Ortler. We bivouacked near the hut in the open air and set off before the first sunlight shortly after 4:00 a.m. It takes a while to get to the first greasy climbing sections, which are rated up to grade IV, but can also be overcome more easily with the help of chains or slings. The 4th dihedral is really a nasty, forbidding beast. But there was no sign of the notorious traffic jam at the key points, because we had the ridge almost all to ourselves! Only further behind us could we hear a rope team. The normal route, on the other hand, had already been used more often. The Payerhütte was already open.
