The Ore Mountains form a 150-kilometer border between the Czech Republic and Saxony. They were German miners who began to search and mine ores and minerals here in the 12th century. Until 1919, the Ore Mountains were inhabited almost exclusively by the descendants of the local settlers who came from the Upper Palatinate, Franconia, Thuringia, Harz and Saxony. With the displacement of the German population after the Second World War, the Ore Mountains from Bohemia also had to leave their homeland, with few exceptions. In this film, we travel the Ore Mountains from west to east, visit interesting places, talk to the people who live here, present joint Czech-German projects and, last but not least, show the beauty of this picturesque landscape.
