Its history is very ancient, it began as a villa of Esat Pasha Toptani in 1914 when Prince Vidi was in Durrës. It was completed in 1938, designed by Florestino de Faustro, one of the greatest architects of the time. It was built with Italian funds that Zog received, and he even spent the first night of his marriage to Queen Geraldine there. It was a villa, as Ciano says in his memoirs, Zog boasted of its gold-plated ceiling. In 1997, this architectural gem was raided and everything was looted. The marbles and doors were torn out and nothing was left. For 27 years it has stood as a kind of cemetery, but Kadri Morina has recently bought it and has promised to restore its former splendor, to its identity by transforming it into an event hall.
