On 16 June 1936, Queen Wilhelmina officially opened the Waal Bridge in Nijmegen, at the time the longest arch-tension bridge in Europe. Report on the official opening of the new Waal Bridge by Queen Wilhelmina. Minister of Water Management OCA van Lidth de Jeude gives a speech. This report provides a historical overview of the various stages in the construction of the bridge and includes images of the old ferry that until today transported traffic from one bank to the other. Shots: ferry with on and off ramps on the Waal near Nijmegen, historical overview of the construction activities surrounding the construction of the Waal Bridge. Queen Wilhelmina officially opens the bridge and is the first to drive over it by car.
