After Pope Francis began the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025 on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope” on Christmas Eve by opening the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, the inauguration of the Holy Year in the dioceses is scheduled for Sunday, December 29, the Feast of the Holy Family of Nazareth. In Reggio Emilia, Archbishop Giacomo Morandi will preside over a solemn liturgy for the opening of the Jubilee Year, which also includes a short pilgrimage to the historic center. Here is the program for the Opening of the Jubilee in the Reggio-Guastalle Church. The meeting will be at 4:00 pm in the Basilica of San Prospero. From here, the participants will begin their journey to the Cathedral; the procession at the beginning of the celebration recalls the pilgrimage, the main theme of the Jubilee. Coming out onto Piazza San Prospero, the faithful led by the Archbishop will walk along Via Calderini, Via Emilia then Piazza del Monte and Via Carducci to Piazza Prampolini. Here a stop is planned in front of the Baptistery to renew the memory of the Baptism, finally the pilgrims will cross the main door of the Cathedral and in the Mother Church of the Diocese the Eucharistic celebration will take place presided over by Monsignor Morandi. The liturgical animation will be taken care of by the Musical Chapel of the Cathedral and the Diocesan Choir. The Diocesan Social Communications Center will broadcast the entire event live streaming on the YouTube channel La Libertà Tv and through the interested television stations.
