This is the KT Vehicle Channel. This time, we will report on the construction status of the #Shin-Meishin Expressway as of May 2024. The Shin-Meishin Expressway, which is expected to be a new artery for Japan's road infrastructure, has not yet opened a 35km section that connects Shiga Prefecture to Osaka Prefecture via Kyoto Prefecture as of 2024. This section was postponed as it was considered to be a section with low demand and low profitability due to the political struggle over the fundamental review of expressway development following the privatization of the Japan Highway Public Corporation in the early 2000s, and was at risk of being canceled at one point. However, after a 10-year freeze, the entire line was commercialized in 2012. In addition, the initial design was a four-lane road to reduce costs, but in 2020, approval for a six-lane road was granted, and construction is currently proceeding with a six-lane road design. However, some structures that have already been completed with a four-lane design will need to be remodeled to a six-lane width, which will take time, so initially, the road will be in operation with a temporary four-lane design, and six lanes will be gradually opened after the opening. In this video, as the first part, we will introduce the construction status of the 25km extension connecting Otsu JCT in Shiga Prefecture to Joyo IC and JCT in Kyoto Prefecture. The opening of this section was originally scheduled for fiscal year 2023, but was postponed to fiscal year 2024, and at the second project liaison and coordination meeting held in January 2024, it was unfortunately difficult to predict the opening date. However, land acquisition has been completed 100%, and construction is in full swing at the site. This is the first on-site survey in nine months since August 2023, so how is the progress? #Expressway #Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism #Relieving traffic congestion #Construction site #Shiga prefecture #Kyoto [Reference sites, image sources, etc.] ●Road Structure Journal NET ・2023 New Year Interviews ⑤ RC double-layer arch, long-span corrugated steel web bridge, nearly 100m high pier, highly challenging 6-lane construction NEXCO West Japan Shin-Meishin Otsu Mobilizing all available technology to plan and construct https://www.kozobutsu-hozen-journal.n... ・NEXCO West Japan Shin-Meishin Kichijojigawa Bridge A highly challenging launch where the vertical gradient changes near P5 https://www.kozobutsu-hozen-journal.n... ・NEXCO West Japan Shin-Meishin Otodogawa Bridge and 2 other bridge sites at peak peak https://www.kozobutsu-hozen-journal.n... ●NEXCO West Japan ・Shin-Meishin Expressway https://corp.w-nexco.co.jp/activity/b... ・Kinki Expressway Nagoya-Kobe Line (Otsu JCT~Joyo) (Joyo~Takatsuki JCT) Business Reevaluation (Draft) March 9, 2022 https://corp.w-nexco.co.jp/corporate/...
