The course History of Feminist Theories began in 1991. It can be considered that it has developed a model trajectory in the field of university studies and in the transfer of knowledge to civil society. It is linked to the completion of master's and doctoral degrees that send their students to cover part of the hours of courses and conferences that are a formal requirement of the new doctorate (International Doctoral Schools). Not only the Complutense University but also postgraduate students from all the universities in Madrid attend to do it. Launched by Celia Amorós Puente, University Professor, renowned philosopher and the first woman to win the National Essay Award, with a work on a feminist theme, the course is currently directed by Ana de Miguel, University Professor in the area of philosophy (Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid). The rest of the professors and researchers who teach the sessions are also prestigious professionals in the recent history of Spanish academic feminism. The course celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in 2021, and was commemorated by the Rector, Joaquín Goyache, and the First Vice-President, Carmen Calvo, an unequivocal sign of the recognition and great demand for serious and rigorous training in all areas of the history of feminist thought. It is, without a doubt, an emblem of feminism at the Complutense University of Madrid.
