He is 94 years old and one of the last living contemporary witnesses. Gerhard Maschkowski experienced hell in his youth. As the child of Jewish parents, he was sent to Auschwitz in 1943 and survived the death march westward in the winter of 1945 in freezing temperatures and guarded by the SS. At the end he weighed just 35 kg. After the war, Gerhard Maschkowski went to the USA with his wife, who had also survived a Nazi concentration camp. He still lives there today. He comes to Germany every two years - for a cure and to report on what happened at events and invitations. People who achieve outstanding things. People with an exciting life story. Our presenters Wolfgang Heim and Nicole Köster have guests from all over the world: show and sports stars, actors, musicians, politicians, entrepreneurs, Nobel Prize winners, scientists or simply people with an interesting biography. Just take a look at our cult show!
