Composer, music producer and bassist Ondřej Soukup entered the music scene with jazz rock, went through the line-up of the group Pražký Výbř, from which he moved to the backing band of Karel Gott, and in the early 1990s he began to establish himself as a composer and producer who, among other things (together with Gábina Osvaldová), wrote the biggest hits for the singer Lucie Bílá. He met her while recording a significantly less pop project, the scenic music for the dance performance Šach mat, which he composed for the dance group UNO. Ondřej Soukup is also a composer of film music and his music can be heard (alongside Frankie Goes To Hollywood) in the film Bony a klid, and in the 1990s he began working with director Jan Svěrák, for whom he also accompanied the Oscar-winning Kolja with his music. What inspired him musically to compose the song Někdo nám do toho vlez pro Jitka Zelenková, which was one of the first rap songs in our country? How does he remember the collaboration on the debut album of the band Hemlutova stříkačka, which he produced? And why does this hitmaker refuse to write pop music today? Watch the full interview.
