Once Upon a Time in Cyprus Episode 1 The morning of December 21, 1963... Like all Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, the Dereli Family woke up that morning not knowing that they would never be together again... Living with whatever the soil gave them in the middle of the Mediterranean for centuries, humming whatever song the wind sang, holding the hand of whomever their hearts beat, the Dereli Family did not know that the day they woke up would go down in history as Bloody Christmas. That day, not only Kemal Dereli and hundreds of thousands of Turkish Cypriots, but also the lives of hundreds of thousands of citizens of the Republic of Turkey, including those living in Cyprus, working on secret missions for the state, and living in the “Motherland”, Ankara, changed in a way that would never be “the same again”. “Once Upon a Time in Cyprus”, an important part of our history, where the great drama of the Turkish Cypriot people and their unique and magnificent resistance leading to victory and peace in solidarity with Turkey are told, will create great excitement in the audience.
