The documentary shows ski tours around Arolla and introduces the small, little-known place in the Swiss canton of Valais, which is close to the famous Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt. Hermann Berie, a mountain guide from Germany, lives with his partner in Arolla in Valais. They both showed us fantastic ski tours in this area close to the Haute Route - and where you can get the best Rösti! Author: Michael Düchs Arolla is a very small place in the Valais in Switzerland, perhaps some ski mountaineers will know it because the famous Haute Route, the ski crossing from Chamonix to Zermatt, leads directly over the mountains above Arolla. Otherwise, however, the place is hardly known - but above all, it has been completely spared from the mass tourism that is now the norm in many other regions of the Alps. So: perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy a very impressive mountain world in peace and quiet! We at Bergauf-Bergab visited Arolla and found the perfect company for some ski tours in the area: Hermann Berie is a German mountain guide who has lived in Switzerland for many years - together with his partner Christina, who has known Arolla since childhood.
