Driving through the Masurian region, we can admire many buildings built during the times when the Teutonic Knights ruled these areas. They were the ones who created most of the towns and villages that still exist today. However, the places where Teutonic strongholds once existed are also very fascinating, and of which only relics remain today in the form of earthen ramparts and fortifications. One of such places is the hillfort located on the shores of Lake Dąbrowa Mała near the village of Stare Miasto. Its history is shrouded in a mystery hidden in the darkness of the Middle Ages. Historians wonder whether this was not the place where the Teutonic Knights wanted to establish one of their towns, perhaps they even started building a castle, but for some reason they abandoned this place and moved to the area of ​​today's Dąbrówno.
