This is a new collection of short stories by novelist Lee Seung-woo, who has been delving into the fundamental issues of life with religious and ideological tones for nearly 30 years. While his deep thoughts on humans and novels still stand out, he tells more realistic and familiar stories. It is full of violent reality, an unwavering sense of guilt, and self-consciousness about writing novels. In the title piece, Old Diary, 'I' feels guilty about my father's death. As a child, he stole money from his father's wallet to buy ice cream, and unconsciously wished that his father would disappear, and on that day, his father suddenly passed away in an accident. 'I' writes a novel to shake off this guilt, but even that does not shake off the guilt. The guilt or ethical consciousness that appears in Lee Seung-woo's novels has a religious tone. In this collection of short stories, he adds a realistic tone and raises ethical issues at specific points in life. This guilt or ethical issue overlaps with the issue of novel writing.
