The traditional costume and riflemen's parade is one of the absolute highlights of the Oktoberfest calendar. Every year, shortly after 10 a.m., the almost seven-kilometer-long parade starts moving at the Max II monument in the immediate vicinity of the Maximilianeum. The participating groups enthusiastically showed off their traditional costumes, waved to the cheering crowds on the side of the road and even performed acrobatic acts like the Munich Moorish dancers. The whole thing was accompanied musically by numerous brass bands and marching bands with traditional folk and marching music.
