Opinions are divided about the Šarplaninac, more so than about any other breed. Just because they are from Šar Mountain, it must be known whose, or whose, they are a little more, Serbian and North Macedonian. The gentle giant from Šar Mountain was registered in 1939, and in 1957 it became the Yugoslav sheepdog, or Šarplaninac. Until then, it was presented as a special type of Illyrian dog. To hear the story of the most famous dog from our region, we went, and where else, than to Šar Planina. First, we were in our southern province, in Kosovo and Metohija, and then we crossed over to the other side of Šar, to the area of North Macedonia. In the end, the Šarplaninac took us all the way to the north of our country - to Vojvodina.
