Nice canal houses by canals that beat Venice, super charming city center with a large selection of pubs and restaurants, yes, we've even read that Amsterdam goes by the epithet "Europe's absolute coziest city". Okay, a sunny high summer day, preferably a Saturday, then maybe all that is true in the eyes of many observers. For us, on a rainy day right at the beginning of October, there was very, very little charm, coziness or even open pubs and restaurants.
