Hello. Today we will consider a very important point in diagnosing the condition of the car. Namely, the condition of the timing chain tensioner using the example of a Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0tsi with a CCTA engine for the American market. In my previous videos • Subjective check of the tension condition... I showed how to subjectively, with clean hands, check the condition of the chain and the tensioner rod extension. Today I confirm the theory with practice. In this video, we will conduct electronic diagnostics of the control unit, subjectively determine the degree of chain stretching and immediately conduct an actual or objective check of the tensioner rod extension. With dismantling of the necessary parts and an actual inspection of the tensioner extension. The data obtained is very interesting for analysis! I recommend it. The data confirms the correspondence of VASI DIAGNOSTIC's readings in the chain stretch correction status line and the actual extension of the tensioner rod. The numbers and data speak for themselves. Only the facts. So, I will show the full cycle of checking the condition of the timing chain tensioner, where to look, what to disassemble, how to disassemble, where to look and what it means. In general, the whole process from start to finish. Believe me, anyone can do it at home, without a lift or even a pit). No special tool is needed. I will show everything that is necessary for checking in the video. Specifically, on this car, the mileage today is 120,000 km and we did a preliminary subjective check at a mileage of 105,000 km. (link to the video above). As a result, the obtained check data are very interesting for analyzing the condition of the tensioner and timing chain, the dynamics of stretching and wear of the chain. As a result, we concluded that on this engine the chain still runs at least 15 - 30 thousand km, that is, until the next maintenance min. But with mandatory control of chain stretch correction! By the way, according to the VAG service literature for this CCTA engine, the chain does not have an assigned resource, and therefore, a replacement interval! Replacement, if necessary, is carried out based on the results of diagnostics, which I will show in this video. PS - thanks to the comments! About switching the automatic transmission to neutral - freaked out)), you don't have to do this. Before setting the TDC - you need to make one full turn of the crankshaft. The measurement is done on a hot engine. I hope the video turned out clear and easy, it will be interesting! If at some point something is not clear, you have questions, or you disagree with something, ask questions, write comments, we'll talk, discuss.
