The history of boza, one of the oldest known Turkish beverages, dates back thousands of years. Known to be energy-giving, a source of probiotics, and quite beneficial in terms of vitamins, protein and even iron, when boza is mentioned, Vefa comes to mind. Boza continues to meet the palate with the same flavor as the first day at the 145-year-old Vefa boza shop. There is another place known when it comes to boza: Velimeşe... Topal Hafız, whose statue was also erected in the town square in Velimeşe, a district of Ergene in Tekirdağ, started the boza tradition hundreds of years ago. Topal Hafız, the son of Üzeyir Çavuş, who settled in Velimeşe after the 93rd war and started making boza, trained four apprentices.
