The relationship between citizens and the State and public administration services has always been guided by the security of individual identification. With the world becoming increasingly technological, it is possible to obtain other infinitely more secure forms of citizen identification, such as, for example, digital and facial biometrics. Therefore, it no longer makes sense to access a public service using the RG as identification, another service using the CPF, when voting using the voter registration card, and so on. Each public administration body may require a different type of document. The good news is that this will end! Law 14.534 of 2023 was enacted, establishing the CPF as the only identification number for citizens. Now, citizens will only present or inform their CPF number when they need public services.
