A program to meet the author with the reading group Pearl Book Club ▶ Book Talk Content: Jeong Ji-ah, a representative 'realist' of the Korean novel world, is presenting a new collection of short stories, 'The Enemy of Capitalism', after 8 years. The author, who showed off her skills by winning the Sim Hoon Literary Award and the Kim Yu-jeong Literary Award last year, skillfully mixes facts and fiction in this collection of short stories to precisely capture the flow of society. In particular, the linguistic craftsmanship shown in the Kim Yu-jeong Literary Award-winning work, 'How Much Do We Know', is outstanding, depicting the ideological conflict and historical scars of the father's generation being inherited by a son in a way that is neither obvious nor easygoing. Since writing about the lives of her parents who were members of the South Korean Workers' Party in 'The Daughter of the Guerilla' (Silcheon Literature 1990), the author has delved into the twists and turns of modern history that permeate human lives, and attempts a variety of new narrative styles in this collection of short stories. ▶ About the author: Novelist Jeong Ji-ah Born in Gurye, Jeollanam-do in 1965, she completed her doctoral course in creative writing at Chung-Ang University Graduate School.
