It's not that easy to run a farm like it used to be and still cover costs. Organic farmer Jörg Altmann has to find this out on his traditionally managed farm. He and his colleagues still work with machines and tractors from the past, some of which are over 60 years old. The cows still have horns, the pigs have curly tails and all the animal mothers live with their offspring for the first few months. Around ten permanent employees have left the organic farm for a variety of reasons. How is farmer Jörg dealing with the changed situation? In this episode, however, Sabine, who mainly looks after many animals and the garden, and Gerald, who is responsible for the ancient vehicle fleet, are also there. But they won't be staying either. A few days ago, one of the Angler saddleback pigs, an old domestic breed, had piglets. Lukas, who is training to be a self-sufficient farmer on the farm, was there at the birth. Billy goat Joker is actually supposed to provide offspring, but the female goats don't seem to be interested in him, at least for the time being. Student intern Jill does something that is rarely seen on other farms these days: she takes the sow and her offspring out. Traditionally, the cold season is also the time for slaughter on the farm. _________________________________________ The farm stories on ndr.de https://www.ndr.de/fernsehen/sendunge...
