The question of processors for notebooks plays a bigger role this year than before because there is a larger selection and the processors differ in more ways. But aspects such as runtime, weight, interfaces and display also remain important. In the podcast, c't editor Florian Müssig unravels the connections. The special thing about the CPUs: If you expect a lot of computing power, a lot of AI performance, long runtimes and a low price, you won't find what you're looking for. Four processor classes are on the market, and each one is weak in at least one of the categories: AMD Ryzen 9, Apple M4, Qualcomm Snapdragon X, Intel Core Ultra 200. Notebook manufacturers also have to decide which platforms they support. We also explain which AI functions you need these NPU processors for or which ones also run on CPUs without an NPU, we look at expandability - especially with framework notebooks -, display brightness and sizes and many other details.
