The regiment took part in the Battle of Kursk and the Belorussian operation, in the battles to defeat the German troops in East Prussia. During the military actions on the Soviet-German front, the pilots of the regiment made about six thousand combat sorties. Many of the heroes of that squadron found eternal peace at the Vvedenskoye Cemetery in Moscow. The feature film slightly embellishes the historical events, adding the necessary drama to the action.
