In autumn 2019, the anniversary year of “800 years of Barbarossa frescoes” on the Gamburg, the SWR filmed an episode of the series “Nobility in the Southwest - The Next Generation”. In “The von Mallinckrodt family from Gamburg” it is shown how Goswin von Mallinckrodt, together with his parents, makes the Gamburg and its history accessible to the public. When he explains the Knights' Hall of the Gamburg to visitors, he likes to tell the story of how his father, Hans-Georg von Mallinckrodt, discovered the hidden wall paintings and uncovered them against the wishes of the monument authority. Today the “Barbarossa frescoes” are among the most important in Europe. The young lord of the castle studied art history and painting in Italy and finally returned to the Gamburg to market the castle and castle park together with his family with guided tours and numerous events. He is well connected with other castle and palace owners, including through his work on the board of the umbrella organization “Schlösser Burgen Gärten Baden-Württemberg”. Through numerous initiatives to research and develop Gamburg and the town of the same name, most recently through a European cultural route, he is contributing to awakening the identity of Tauberfranken. In the extraordinary castle park, which is maintained by his father himself, or in the café, visitors can immerse themselves in a world that the owner family had to painstakingly recreate over the past few decades. In nine films from SWR television, young nobles report on the challenges that the generational change brings with it in their family and how they deal with the responsibility that comes with it. In the reports, noble families allow a glimpse into their everyday lives and behind the scenes. Of course, such television reports are not always completely accurate. Nevertheless, they give viewers a basic impression of a world that is otherwise rarely accessible. For more information, see: https://burg-gamburg.de/
