The Earth is like a cake, made up of different layers. At its core is a solid sphere the size of the planet Mars. Around it is the outer core, which is liquid rock. The next layer is the mantle, which has a caramel-like consistency. Outside is the crust – where we live. The radius of the Earth is over 6,000 kilometers, and the largest hole ever dug is just over 12 kilometers deep. The crust under the continents reaches 64 kilometers, and under the oceans it can be much thinner. What lies beneath our feet? Where does fantasy begin and what are the undeniable facts? Professor Boyko Rangelov is a guest in the studio.
