Nissan Qashqai 2021 - New Qashqai - now Mild Hybrid and Eco label 2024 Unboxing Nissan Qashqai 2021 - 2023 The third generation of the new Nissan Qashqai visits Arrancamos!?, your reference channel in the world of motors, to show that there is hardly anything left of the crossover that in 2007 began a long history, an enormous reign in sales, which laid the foundations for what is today the best-selling segment in Spain and Europe. The SUV par excellence is already in its third generation and this New Qashqai embraces technology with two Mild Hybrid gasoline engines of 140 and 158 hp and a 190 e-Power that is expected for 2022 and that will be a revolution in the segment: an electric car that is recharged by a gasoline engine. Your head may explode, but the Opel Ampera and Chevrolet Volt were the pioneers on this side of the Mississippi. The new Qashqai (named after the nomadic Kashgai tribe from the area between Iran and Turkey) has evolved tremendously in terms of design. Sharp look, very sharp adaptive matrix full LED headlights, very futuristic details, but also very attractive, which will surely make it continue to be the centre of attention. It is true that it takes risks at the front, but it achieves the objective of captivating the person who looks at you. At the back it takes fewer risks, although I like the rear lights even more than the front ones. Inside you can see a lot of quality and equipment, although again the brand provides us with a car with all the available equipment, in the highest finish of the range. That is why we move away from the 25,775 euros that the cheapest option marks and we go to 37,000 euros, and that is giving up the 2,500 euros extra that the four-wheel drive option costs. The Tekna+ trim doesn't skimp on anything, and it shows in the equipment of a car that is well finished and uses decent materials in the interior. The automatic transmission doesn't justify the extra 2,100 euros it costs, for me it's dispensable. If you're not going to make many trips outside the black, the extra 2,500 euros can also be saved. We haven't driven the 140, but the performance should be very similar and the difference of 1,200 euros can also be interesting in our pockets. The rear habitability is not bad, but it lacks any type of adjustment in the second row of seats, something that plays very much against it, since the rivals are very well prepared, and offer something more than the leader until now for much less money, something to take into account. On a dynamic level, it has seemed to us a very coherent car, where comfort and tranquility prevail more than any sporting aspect. The 158 hp version moves well, a fairly decent compromise has been achieved with the weight, but despite the fact that it does not reach a ton and a half, the figures are not scary. The 0 to 100 km/h is less than 10 seconds by a hair. And in dynamic driving it suffers from a softer suspension than desirable. The accelerations are not exactly lightning-fast, nor are the recoveries, and in addition the consumption leaves a lot to be desired. We have come very close to the 8 litre average, far from the 6.4 that it is approved for. So a lot of light hybridisation, a lot of eco-label, but it swallows its own, especially compared to the competition, which is far above in this point, and also in terms of engine variety, since here they have already forgotten about diesel completely. The torque is 270 Nm, a discreet figure, which ends up throwing back expectations that, as soon as we saw the car and its risky design, were quite high. The problem with this Qashqai is that there are more and more wolves in the yard and the hens are very coveted. The price and the mechanical indolence are not going to play in its favour, precisely. It is a good car, it will please its buyers, but after testing some of its rivals, such as Tucson, 3008 or CX-5, we expected more from the leader, although it has tried hard to retain its crown, especially in terms of aesthetics and in terms of safety elements and driving aids... very intrusive, by the way, but of course, the price has gone up even more than expected. On the 'I would buy it' scale, the score for the new Nissan Qashqai is 7.1. The design is engaging, the interior appearance too, but the 1.3 falls short, it even sounds too much when you look for the top part of the rev counter. The light hybridisation is a good hook, but the eco label does not justify the price increase, nor the greater equipment. It won't be easy for him to retain the scepter...
