The Nikon FM2 is a 35mm reflex camera (24x36mm frame) with mechanical focal plane shutter, manufactured by Nikon Corporation between 1982 and 2001. The battery only powers the built-in light meter. Without a battery the shutter and film advance work at 100%. It accepts Nikon F-mount lenses that meet Ai or higher specifications: Ai, Ais, Ai-P, and autofocus lenses with an aperture ring (AF, AF-D, but not AF-G); it is compatible with various accessories such as the MD-11 and MD-12 advance motors, and several types of focusing screens. It was replaced in 2001 by the Nikon FM3A.
