Nikiszowiec – a historic housing estate in Katowice, built in the years 1908–1919 on the initiative of the mining and metallurgical concern Georg von Giesches Erben as a workers' housing estate for miners of the Giesche mine (currently Wieczorek) built on the grounds of the Giszowiec manor. The housing estate was designed by architects Emil and Georg Zillmann from Charlottenburg, who were also the authors of the design of the neighbouring Giszowiec. The urban and spatial layout of the Nikiszowiec workers' housing estate from the years 1908–1918 was entered into the register of monuments on 19 August 1979. On 14 January 2011, the housing estate was declared a historical monument. The Silesian Tourist Organisation slaskie.travel has prepared for tourists the opportunity to visit the Nikiszowiec housing estate with a free audio guide. It can be rented at the Tourist Information Point at ul. Rymarska 4. The background of the film is regional music performed by the KWK Śląsk Wind Orchestra.
