Gerhard Weißhäupl cultivates around 35 hectares of arable land in Upper Austria in a slightly different way. Instead of a plough, he uses a tiller he developed himself, and instead of pesticides, he sprays his own compost tea. And in the middle of the field, meter-high trees grow, creating an optimal microclimate and also providing plenty of biomass for composting. We take a look at some of his fields and talk to him about the last direct sowing trial of corn in green-cut rye, about his experiences with the now eight-year-old agroforestry system (operated as a short rotation area) and about the use of compost tea sprays in arable farming practice. ___ Fascinated by the world of regenerative agriculture?
