IT specialist Joar Berge has changed his life, radically. He has left his sometimes restless life in the city with parties and the gym behind him. Joar has bought two small cows and moved to the country. He had already fallen in love with cows as a small boy. He grew up next to a farm and was constantly in the stable and on the pasture with his favorite cow. He named his two new cows Dagi and Emma. When Joar was looking for a stable and pasture for them, he met Lena, Markus and Lili. Together with them he founded the 'Lebenshof'. There they give a home to animals that would otherwise be killed. All four have one goal: to show people how systematically animals are destroyed in our country. And that so-called 'farm animals' can also develop their individuality if they are given the space to do so. Dagi and Emma happily run to meet Joar when he comes. Everyone at the Lebenshof does this on a voluntary basis. The project is to be financed through donations. Joar is drumming up publicity on social networks. When they start out, they don't know if they will raise enough money. We spent about a year following Joar, Lena, Markus and Lili with the camera as they set up the animal sanctuary. Many exciting but also sad stories happened. During this time, the animal sanctuary became known worldwide through Instagram and Facebook. Joar is repeatedly faced with difficult decisions: There are so many animals they could take in and save from death - but space and resources are limited. And so is the energy of the four, in addition to their actual full-time jobs. The film shows that there is another, respectful way of dealing with animals. And that manure and home office, the natural world on the farm and the digital world of the Internet are not contradictory, but can complement each other well.
