Lillehammer Upper Secondary School offers a preparatory year before starting upper secondary school. The offer is called the combination class. You become part of a regular school environment and attend a class with your peers. You have primary school subjects that are adapted to your needs, and the goal is to become so good at Norwegian language and primary school subjects that you can continue your education. At the same time, there is a focus on observation in upper secondary subjects and you receive support for further choices in upper secondary school. Depending on your needs and level, you can spend one or two years in the combination class. You can take the primary school exam at the end - if you want. This is an opportunity to get a diploma with grades, which you use to apply for ordinary admission to upper secondary education.
