Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, is one of the main causes of death in the Italian and world population. Therapies play a fundamental role in slowing its progression and recently three-component fixed combinations have been put on the market, two bronchodilators with different mechanisms of action together with cortisone, which have been shown to significantly reduce mortality, as confirmed by recent studies. Professor Giovanna Elisiana Carpagnano, Director of the UOC Respiratory System Diseases, University Hospital of Bari, talks about it to PharmaStar microphones, on the sidelines of the XXIV National Congress of Italian Pneumology, held in Bari.
