The Donsin Airport Project Owner (MOAD) organized a press visit to the new Donsin airport site on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The purpose of this visit was to allow journalists and public communicators to familiarize themselves with the progress of the construction work on the new Donsin airport. Located in Donsin, approximately 35 km from Ouagadougou and covering an area of 4,400 hectares, the new airport under construction aims to be a modern airport that meets international standards. Visiting the site on May 21, 2024, journalists and public communicators were able to see first-hand the construction of several infrastructures. The infrastructures already completed include, among other things, the landing and take-off runway, aircraft parking lots, military base buildings, technical buildings, administrative buildings, airport fencing, drinking water supply, and various roads and networks. The completion rate for these works is 86%. For the Director General of MOAD, Zakaria Serge Landolo SIEBA, these are significant advances. "Thanks to the constantly renewed will of the Transition authorities, the support of technical and financial partners and the determination of MOAD, the bottlenecks are gradually being lifted and the work on the airport platform is making significant progress," he said. With regard to the construction of passenger and freight processing infrastructure, commercial and related infrastructure, the recruitment of a new partner is pending due to the termination in August 2023 of the concession agreement between Burkina Faso and the Meridiam/Marseille-Provence Airport consortium by the Transition authorities. According to the Director General of MOAD, the Transition authorities have given the deadline of the end of 2025 to make the new Donsin airport available. #Com_Gouv_BF #SIGBurkina #BurkinaFaso
