Check out this report on how to diagnose and replace the catalytic converter of the Chevrolet Onix 1.4 AT 2015. The procedure was performed by mechanic Carlos Vasselo from the Paulicéia Escapamentos workshop in Piracicaba/SP, under the supervision of Mastra's Product Engineer, Oswaldo Ferreira. The unit used had 170 thousand km on the clock and had its catalytic converter core removed, which altered the readings of the pre- and post-catalytic converter lambda probes, directly influencing pollutant emissions and consumption. In this second part, Umicore's Commercial Manager, Cláudio Furlan, explains how the catalysis of exhaust gases occurs inside the core and why it should never be removed.
