Neuroatypicality in TV series is a topic that has come up in my conversations from time to time, but I have never devoted as much time to this issue as I have this time. Of course, I invited none other than Kaja Szafrańska from the YouTube channel Jakbyniepaczeć, who was already a guest on Atypical a few episodes ago, to this conversation. So we take a look together at how neuroatypicality was and is coded in more or less well-known and popular female and male characters in TV series. Kaja also shares her observations on different types of women who exhibit ADHD and autism traits in contrast to neuroatypical male characters. So, she talks about “Atypical” and “The Big Bang Theory,” but also about “Sex Education,” “Breaking Bad,” “The Bridge” and… “Friends.” And why an autistic man in TV series is a sexy genius, and a woman is a maladjusted, antisocial weirdo. And if you like the idea of a series of episodes in which we would analyze series from this perspective in more detail, one by one, then be sure to let me know in the comments. @jakbyniepaczec channel Instagram: / jakoniepaczec ---------------------------------------------- My book “We women with ADHD” is available for purchase here: https://bit.ly/3uDCAZF And if you like what I do and would like to support my work, you can buy me a coffee at https://buycoffee.to/atypowe Thank you very much to all supporters. ---------------------------------------------- Also check out: Instagram: / atypowe.podcast Facebook: / atypowe
