The big stage in Nelson Rodrigues' life was journalism. At the age of 13, he started as a reporter for the newspapers A Manhã and Crítica, owned by his father, Mário Rodrigues. Nelson became an expert in serial fiction and published several series that in the 1940s left readers obsessed with the next chapter. Arnaldo Niskier, his contemporary at Última Hora and Manchete Esportiva in the 1950s; Nelson Motta, his partner at TV Globo in the late 1960s; and Otavio Frias Filho, editorial director of Folha de S.Paulo, have many stories to tell about this genius of writing.
