May 12, 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the death of the German-Jewish poet Nelly Sachs (1891-1970). She was a "princess of mourning" (Daniel Hoffmann), a writer against forgetting, a voice of the dead and the living of the Jewish people and the land of Israel. Prof. Dr. Daniel Hoffmann, Professor of Modern Literature at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, introduces her life and poetry.
