President Nayib Bukele promotes Surf City circuit 2 with the start of construction on Punta Mango Street, Usulután, to boost tourism and the economy of the eastern part of the country The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, presided over the ceremony to start the construction works on Punta Mango Street, in Jucuarán, in the department of Usulután, a project that is part of circuit 2 of the Surf City strategy, which will strengthen and generate better opportunities for the tourist development of the eastern part of the country. The works in Punta Mango, in the municipality of Jucuarán, include the construction of 13.6 kilometers of road between Usulután and San Miguel, connecting the eastern coastal area. The beaches of the eastern coastal area have been forgotten by previous governments, excluding them from public investment and development, one of the main strategies that the Government is now promoting. “This is a territory abandoned by all past governments; we have one of the most impressive beaches in the country here. Surfers told me that it is one of the best beaches for surfing in the world. There is not even a road to access it, this road is dirt, not only is Punta Mango beach not developed, but also the beaches in the area,” lamented President Bukele. The president affirmed that in the first phase of circuit 2 of Surf City, the 13-kilometer road will be built, with an investment of $41 million, which will have a bicycle path, underground wiring and viewing points, which will allow for the tourist revitalization and economic development of the area. This road will go from Punta Mango to El Cuco, in San Miguel; benefiting 11 hamlets in the area: El Bajío, Tempiscal, Conchagüita, El Toro, El Majagüe, El Carrizal, Agua Fría, Las Goteras, El Alambre, Guaycume and Ojo de Agua; and will generate 600 direct jobs and 1,200 indirect jobs. Meanwhile, phase two of circuit 2 of Surf City, which includes 15 kilometers of road from Punta Mango street to El Espino beach, in Usulután, will have an investment of $55 million. The works will be carried out through the Municipal Works Department, which will also build seven bridges and remodel two schools in the area El Carrizal and Agua Fría, as well as the reconstruction of the Jucuarán Health Unit, which will promote local development in the area. Circuit 2 of Surf City is part of the two economic boosts announced by the head of state, with public works and tourism. “With phase 1 and phase 2 of Surf City we will benefit the eastern part of the country. In addition, we will have the construction of the Pacific Airport and the Port of La Unión,” said the president. He also added: “Surf City has been a total success in our country. When we started with this, they told us: 'the beaches were already there, you didn't make the beaches'. I never promised to make beaches, but we brought development and an innovative concept.” With this initiative, the Government encourages the region, made up of four departments: San Miguel, Usulután, Morazán and La Unión, to promote circuit 2 of Surf City, along with two large strategic projects: the Pacific Airport and the Pacific Train, which will generate better opportunities for the tourist development of the east and all of El Salvador.
