2024 National Sports Award. Mexico City. Wednesday, November 27, 2024 President Claudia Sheinbaum. From the National Palace, home of the people of Mexico, we present the 2024 National Sports Award to 13 women and men who have won Olympic and Paralympic medals, professional athletes, athletes with a track record, referees and coaches. We congratulate their families and instructors; we know what their sacrifice means for young athletes to get ahead. We also present this award to the Alfredo Harp Helú Foundation for Sports for its outstanding work in promoting and practicing sports. We belong to a great country with a great history, with extraordinary heroes and heroines like our athletes, who have the full support of the federal government for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and various national championships. We invite you to join us in promoting sport in two ways: Social and community sport, so that through physical education and activation, we can bring peace and the reconstruction of the social fabric to the entire country; so that every girl or boy sees in you an example. We will bring tournaments and different sporting options to all regions so that they have the opportunity to build discipline, love and personal development. Through sports incubators, we will break the inertia that has affected national sport, so that girls, boys and young people who come from below receive support and opportunities. The transformation of the country also has to do with sport and we will do it thoroughly.
