A Buddhist painting craftsman is an artisan who paints Buddhist paintings for worship and education that express Buddhist doctrines in an easy-to-understand pictorial manner. Until now, the Buddhist painting production skills have been passed down by holders of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Dancheongjang, but considering the characteristics of the category, it was separated into a single category and designated as a Buddhist painting craftsman in 2006. In 2022, a documentary project was carried out based on the production demonstration and interview of the holder, Im Seok-hwan. The resulting documentary video contains the history, materials, production process, and transmission status of Buddhist paintings. #Cultural Heritage Administration #National Intangible Heritage Center #National Intangible Cultural Heritage #Buddhist Painting Craftsman
