After two years of unmotivated absences and half a decade since the last film from this symbolic event, we returned to the Dacia Classic National Meeting. I don't know how others are, but when I put the word classic next to the Dacia brand, my skin crawls. Because this event turned my passion on a new path, thus redefining my career and... existence. I started this show out of my passion for Classic Dacias and also inspired by this event I ended up owning my first historic vehicle. And after hitting the country far and wide, Dacia Clasic returned this year to the seaside! Several dozen of the most beautiful Dacians in Romania came to Constanța to celebrate our motoring history, meeting at Scoica Land for three days of rest and stories on the edge of the hood, traffic of priceless parts, small adjustments and the inevitable peach exposition. The cars coming from all over the country were joined by several dozen other classic Dacias from Constanța county, and the column thus formed set off on the streets of the city in a veritable journey through time. Sorted by models, colors and... importance in their time, the Dacias offered other road users, but also those on the sidelines, a consistent dose of nostalgia, sending them thinking of the times when these cars were new , and they were younger, more optimistic and cheerful. Probably the most shocking experience was those who met the road breakers, the four Militia Dacias, followed by a Dacia 2000, the former official car of Nicolae Ceaușescu, but also by four black Dacias, such as the used by the hateful Security. In addition to dozens of Dacia 1300s of all ages, the column was also spiced up by three Suticas, such as the Dacia 1100s, five Sports, i.e. a Dacia 1410 Sport, a Dacia 1320 CN, a Dacia 1325 Liberta, but also a few 1310s and a Nova which, although they have not yet reached the necessary age to be historic with proper documents, they must also be celebrated and preserved in order to become classic cars. The end point of the parade was Piața Ovidiu, a place full of history, where the ancient Dacians stopped for a few hours. The center of the former Greek fortress Tomis has also become the center of passion for all Romanian car lovers, several thousand people visiting the Dacia Classic exhibition to admire both the exhibits and the stories behind them. From the brave Lăstun, born with broken wings, to the Dacia 2000, with its unique features that only the illustrious leader of the country had access to, this year's exhibition had something to offer. Impeccably restored cars, awarded with trophies at elegance competitions, preserved examples with very low mileage, cars remaining in the same family after several decades of existence, examples with rare features that do not exist in any documentation, stories that are more and more beautiful and more interesting. For the second consecutive year, Dacia, the car manufacturer that became part of the Renault group a quarter of a century ago, was an official partner of the Dacia Classic National Meeting, participating in the exhibition with several cars from the factory's priceless collection. Thus, two vans were exhibited in Piața Ovidiu: 1304 Pick-Up and 1305 Drop-Side. The pick-up has a special story, being a copy bought by Renault during a visit to the Dacia Factory in the early 90s, when the first discussions about a possible privatization took place. The car arrived in France, was kept by the French for almost three decades, after which it was repatriated, presented at the anniversary event in 2018, when Dacia turned 50, and then integrated into the collection of classic cars of of the plant.
