A trip to the hot springs of the secluded Akiyamago region, following in the footsteps of Suzuki Bokushi, a best-selling author from the Edo period. Heading from Tokyo to Shinetsu Shizenkyo, we got off at Iiyama Station and headed to Akiyamago. We stopped at a roadside station in Sakaemura, Nagano, and had mushroom soup, Sakae soft serve ice cream, and for lunch, we had the legendary pork, Tsumari pork cutlet, Tonkatsu Tatai, at Tsunan Brewery in Tsunan Town, Niigata. We bought some sake, and stayed at the same lodging where Suzuki Bokushi had stayed, Minshuku Naeba-so. The next day, we stopped at a soba restaurant in Tsunan again, and headed to Kiriaki Onsen, the deepest part of Akiyamago.
