The Concorde is a supersonic airliner jointly developed by Great Britain and France. It was the first civil aircraft to regularly carry passengers at supersonic speeds. With a speed of Mach 2 (about 2,180 km/h), the Concorde was twice as fast as conventional passenger aircraft and could carry up to 100 passengers. Its sleek fuselage and delta wings made the Concorde aerodynamically efficient. It was operated by Air France and British Airways and was mainly used on transatlantic routes such as Paris-New York and London-New York. Its maiden flight took place in 1969, and regular service followed in 1976. The Concorde was considered a symbol of technological advancement and luxury. However, it also faced economic challenges, including high operating costs, its limited passenger capacity, and environmental concerns about the sonic boom and fuel consumption. On July 25, 2000, a tragic crash occurred near Gonesse, near Paris. Air France flight AF 4590 was scheduled to fly from Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle to New York, but ended in disaster just minutes after takeoff, killing 113 people. The Concorde was finally taken out of service in 2003. To this day, however, it remains a milestone in the history of aviation and a symbol of innovation. #concorde #aircraft #innovation #aviation ------- Chapters ▷ 00:00 Last flights of the Concorde, 2003 ▷ 02:15 Crash of the Concorde, July 25, 2000 ▷ 02:55 Concorde flight to New York, 1998 ▷ 04:10 Check-in, prominent guests ▷ 05:24 In the Concorde ▷ 08:57 At takeoff ▷ 11:17 Supersonic flight ▷ 12:38 Bell X-1, Chuck Yeager, 1947 ▷ 13:50 Fairey Delta 2, Trident ▷ 15:14 André Turcat & Brian Trubshaw ▷ 16:00 Construction of the Concorde ▷ 18:52 Flight simulator ▷ 20:50 Maiden flight, 1969 ▷ 25:55 British prototype Concorde 002 ▷ 26:28 Tupolev Tu-144, Andrei Nikolayevich Tupolev ▷ 30:00 Prince Philip & Prince Bernhard ▷ 31:00 Air show in Farnborough ▷ 33:00 American aircraft industry ▷ 34:20 Fateful year 1973 ▷ 37:47 Landing approach ▷ 40:15 Check ▷ 42:32 Accident on July 25, 2000 ▷ 51:56 End credits ------- Subscribe to wocomoDEUTSCH: https://bit.ly/2VgSBml Follow us on Facebook: / wocomo ------- Original title: Mythos Concorde © Licensed by Vidicom ------- High-quality documentaries on Science, society, history and wildlife: wocomoDEUTSCH provides access to reliable and high-quality sources of information in German.
